It's official - I shall become a TriBeCan for the next year, walking to work by the World Trade Center site in the morning :-) Living with a Yoga instructor and a concierge should help me find my way around the city, stay fit and not go crazy... I am not going to talk about the price of the room here - let me just say I cannot believe it will be costing me more than our entire apartment in Munich! But well, the things you do for being in NYC. And the views really make up for it... I LOVE the view from the balcony...
There are just some more hurdles I have to take - one being the social security number that I need to apply for next week and the other is my credit history. Unfortunately quite a few things depend on your credit in this country and for some strange reason you have to build it up by using credit cards that you can only get once you have a credit history. Sounds weird? That's what I am thinking. Am hoping someone will explain it to me better than the lady that I was opening my bank account with today. The bank account is another thing I've been struggling with - in theory you even need your social security number for that. But for some reason I got around that now but I need to make sure work deposits my paycheck (yeah, believe it or not- we still get paper-based paychecks here) straight into it. Almost makes you think of Allianz in Germany as progressive... ;-)
Oh well, just really hoping to sort all these things out soon so I can start enjoying the fun stuff the city has to offer!!! The weather has been gorgeous so I really need to get out more...
