Even though I still feel quite lost sometimes I slowly but surely start feeling more like a New Yorker.
I certainly have started hating the tourists around Century 21, down by the world trade center more than anything. Especially when biking around there - they just stare up the tower and have no idea where they are walking... Oh yeah, you can recognize New Yorkers by their walking speed too. They usually walk a lot faster than the tourists because they have somewhere to get to or something to do...
All this rush makes me think of a good saying I recently read somewhere though: a full schedule (which every New Yorker certainly has) does not mean a fulfilled life...

At yesterday's JP Morgan's Corporate Challenge I  realized that pretty much every second New Yorker seems to be a runner. And everyone is so supportive. We were in one of the slowest walking group and the volunteers still kept cheering us on... Walking was actually a great opportunity to see the beauty of Central Park - and it is much bigger than what you usually see as a tourist. I absolutely need to go back for a jog there. The problem is just talking to my colleagues I got about 20 different ideas of what I absolutely HAVE to do in and around New York. So where do you start? I have come to realize that being a New Yorker is about continuing to be a tourist as well... Just be a bit more smart about it, check the right websites and hear about the best deals... Still a lot of homework to do - but can't wait to get started. There is a lot of energy in this city and I love that!
