And I thought after having tried Yoga in Kazakhstan in Russian, not getting a word, I had seen it all... A friend took me to this flow yoga class today and I am pretty sure I'll be sore of all the downward facing dogs, crows and even handstands (ok, was more of an attempted handstand for me) tomorrow...
The class was super crowded and we had three instead of just one instructor who each seemed to randomly start correcting people and fiddled with the music. Apparently flow yoga is all about the flow of the movements and breathing but if you are not very good at coordinating your limbs like me, there is no way you can focus on inhaling and exhaling at the same time. But say what you want - this must really make you fit, at least the teachers seemed very on top of things... I might still go back to Bikram yoga after this trial week just because I feel it's easier to go by a set routine. The postures today were supposed to be carried out so fast that everybody does them slightly differently and certainly not all correct.
Anyway, enough yogi talk - btw one of the students really had to recite something in Sanskrit today - sounded like when some Americans are trying to pronounce my last name ;-)
After that interesting experience we walked past a really nice area (NoHo = North of Houston Street) to the East Village where Liquiteria really does serve the best (and most unusual) juices in the city. Mine had a lot of ingredients I had never heard of but mostly tasted of ginger and different fruit juices - slightly spicy but nice. For almost 10 bucks their drinks better be good too ;-) And thank God I didn't get one of the delicious looking sandwiches, at least according to a review these are the worst in town. You certainly won't be able to find any meat on those, I'd even be surprised if there was cheese on it. The whole place looked very vegan to me. Talking about vegan - everything goes in this city so I think I could even become a vegan cause you have so many options here. There are plenty of vegan restaurants and at the birthday party we were at this weekend there were even vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free cupcakes. While I was too full from dinner to taste them I heard the vegan variety was even better than the regular ones (not as sweet). Remaining with the subject of food - one thing I absolutely LOVE about my job is the little food carts all around the buildings of Wall Street etc. They make the best Falafel sandwich or Falafel on rice I have ever tried. And at a great price too - really feel for people who never try food from the street. It's the best!
Let's falafel tomorrow! I haven't tried any yet :( Hmmm and let's see how sore you are tomorrow! xo
