In Mount Royal we saw this sign, seems like there are quite a few racoons in the city. I can't help it but always think they look cute. But they can be a real pest, living off people's garbage and messing up people's cars, I guess. They seem to have gotten quite bold here... We didn't have the pleasure of running into one though.
Getting to the top of the hill really isn't all this spectacular when you've been able to take the bus up. But at least it was nice and sunny. Apparently Montreal has a lot of sunshine, which probably helps people stock up on warmth and rays of sun for the winter...
Poutine - the national dish
Speaking about winter, apparently you need a lot of fat to survive the long, cold winters up here. Or else I would not be able to explain their strange, quebequois national dish, similar to Haggis in Scotland not something that usually is without meat but there was a vegetarian alternative.
The very light snack consists of french fries, melted cheese over it (we were not quite clear what kind of cheese traditionally goes on it, we figured it's mainly cheddar, ok, googling it now, it's established, it's cheddar curd and is topped off with a chicken or veal meat sauce. Sounds and tastes like something that could be great after a whole night of drinking.
There are now all kinds of variations such as mexican poutine with avocado. In any case, quite an experience and even the day after, you still have a feeling of being so full...
